Crappy Scrappy 2025

Very Limited Quantity

What is Crappy Scrappy and Cruddy Muddy dye? These colors are a blend of our dye scraps that we collect over 2-3 years. In our shop, we generate no dye waste because we have a large barrel where we collect our spilled, left over, and scrapped dyes. All our dye scraps go into this barrel. What are dye scraps? Dye scraps can be anything from small amounts of dye spilled during packaging, dye donated back to us from customers who could no longer use the dye, dye lot’s we tested that did not meet our expectations so we would not sell it in a pure form, dyes we blended to test new colors, any dye we had in stock that we decided not to sell for various reasons.

When our barrel starts to fill up, we mix it roughly in a huge batch. Since there are so many different colors in the scraps, and since the mix is so large, there is no way that the final mix of dye will be uniform. Every jar of crappy scrappy will be a slightly or even very different blend. Many of the scraps that went into the mix are reds and blues so this batch of crappy scrappy tends to have a lot of purple shades, but every color eventually made it into the blend so there are browns, greens, blacks and greys that will pop up in various places.

We imagine these colors will be popular amongst adventurist ice dyers, with some unpredictable color splits. We’ve also dyed samples with traditional tie dye methods. When mixed into a concentrated solution, the colors tend to be purplish blacks, or purplish browns or greys.
